The allegations first surfaced on X,formerly Twitter,when images circulated of a shirtless Giddey standing behind a woman,with claims that she was underage. The post was deleted and the social media account which published it was deactivated.
In a statement to this masthead on Thursday,the Newport Beach Police Department said it would not continue with the investigation,and no charges had been filed.

“Our detectives have reviewed all of the available information regarding allegations circulating on social media and were unable to corroborate any criminal activity,” crime prevention specialist Heather Rangel said.
Giddey has lived in the United States since he was 19.
High-profile US lawyer Gloria Allred was engaged to act for the girl and her family.
The NBA has beenundertaking its own investigation,but Giddey was allowed to continue playing. NBA commissioner Adam Silver told ESPN in November that the league would take a “back seat” while police investigated.
