The driver of a bus that crashed in the Brisbane CBD in March,killing pedestrian Tia Cameron,will be formally charged over her death.
In a statement late on Monday afternoon,Queensland police advised that the man was expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 26.
“Following extensive investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit,a 70-year-old Underwood man has been issued a notice to appear on one count of careless driving causing death,” the statement said.
The man has not been named.
Cameron,18,was fatally injured when the The driver and four passengers sustained minor injuries.
Initial statements by officials that the driver was believed to have suffered a medical episode were quickly withdrawn.
Since the accident,police and transport experts have investigated how the bus turned from Ann Street into Edward Street but failed to maintain its line into Adelaide Street,instead crashing into the Anzac Square Arcade building.
Cameron,who worked at The Brisbane Club,had left work that Friday afternoon and gone for a lash appointment at a salon off Edward Street.
After leaving the salon,just after 5pm,she was hit and pinned by the bus and suffered fatal injuries.
