Victoria Police confirmed they were called to a Springvale Road supermarket about 4.50pm on Tuesday after reports a male had been stabbed.
In a statement,police said that when they arrived they found a 14-year-old boy with “lacerations to his shoulders”. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Police have been told a group approached the[boy] and then assaulted him before running away,” the statement said.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. A source,who cannot be identified for legal reasons,said the group that attacked the boy were wearing balaclavas.
The attack comes after a teen was stabbed outside Springvale Library on Sunday.
The 15-year-old boy was stabbed by a group of youths who filmed the attack,which Nine News reported showed the group threatening the victim with a machete.
Nine News reported it then showed them chasing,kicking and punching the victim before stabbing him on the ground.
Nine also reported the same gang was suspected to have earlier stormed a Springvale shopping centre about 7.50pm and attacked a security guard.
The guard was punched in the head repeatedly and kicked,while the attack was recorded on a mobile phone.
Police are investigating both attacks but no arrests have been made.
