Search for missing surfer near Margaret River suspended

The search for a missing surfer spotted in trouble at the popular Surfer’s Point beach near Prevelly on Friday afternoon has been suspended due to treacherous conditions.

At about 4.35pm,another surfer tried to help the now missing 40-year-old,but couldn’t reach him in the rough seas.

A number of police and emergency services searched the water and beach immediately after the call for help, but the man was not found.

Surfer’s Point remains closed today while police and other emergency services, including local marine rescue and jet skis, continued the search.

Police have asked members of the public to continue to avoid the area.
