The recollection is sharply at odds with Mr Foley's public statements following last week's decision by Premier Mike Baird to ban greyhound racing in NSW from July 1 next year.
On Monday Mr Foley pledged to overturn the ban if elected premier in 2019,casting it as"an alliance of north shore Liberals and inner-city greens against the ordinary people of this state".
"This whole thing reeks of inner-city elitism, wowserism, where the pastimes and enjoyment of thousands of NSW residents is looked down upon by a bunch of snobs,"he said at the time.
Mr Foley has since held numerous media events with greyhound breeders and trainers as part of hisattack on the government's move.
