A Domain ad for a block of land in the Victorianseaside suburb ofRye may be Australia’s most mystifying – and delightfully honest – property listing.

The vendor,who is selling13 Tarawill Street themselves online,has included only one photo:a mobile phone picture of a computer screen showing the verdant block on Google maps.

The listing has been live since July 2019 and the price has yo-yoed.

The current private sale price of $660,000 represents a recent discount from $715,000,Domain’s Pricefinder data shows.

When it first came onto the market,the listing called for $705,000,peaking at $765,000 in April last year,with a period at the start of 2021 where it dropped to $615,000.

The seller ends the listing pitch with an emphatic “please”.

“It is located on a very pretty and hilly part of the Rye front- Beach[sic]. It is non-densely treed with tea-tree and some other tree types,” the listing says.

“It is surrounded with multi-storey modern buildings at the side and the back. The property is approximately 160 ft long and 55 ft wide. The street is modern narrow and windy and comes to a rapid dead-end.

“From the SKY it looks impressive and centrally located. It is a quiet area to live with very few active neighbours. We will accept best and closest offer now – HURRY! – Please.”

Rye is one of Australia’s boom suburbs,clocking a median house price increase of 27.6 per cent over the past year,to $1,212,500.

Over five years,the median house price in Rye has rocketed 98.1 per cent,according to Domain data.
