Ms Palaszczuk said Mr Pitt would bring his diligence,fairness and attention to detail to the role of Speaker.
"Curtis Pitt is well-versed in the Parliamentary and legislative process. They will be crucial qualities in the new Parliament,"she said.
Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath,Racing Minister Grace Grace and Environment Minister Steven Miles will also be promoted for"strong performance"in the first Palaszczuk term,when the new cabinet is sworn-in at Government House on Tuesday.
Ms Palaszczuk said Mr Pitt had handed down three surplus budgets,was one of Labor's most experienced and senior MPs and would continue to play a leadership role in the far north.
Mr Pitt said he was honoured to accept his party's nomination as Speaker.
"It's an honour to be nominated to a position last held by a member from far north Queensland a century ago,"he said.
"Former speaker William McCormack was not only from FNQ as well,but at 36,he also took on the job at a relatively young age."
"I have always been willing to serve Queenslanders in any capacity,both in government and opposition."
Mr Pitt said it was rewarding to serve as a cabinet minister in a range of demanding portfolios in two governments.
"I see my role as ensuring that the Parliament will continue to be a house of robust debate,and that its operations are fair and accountable,"he said.
"If elected,the role of Speaker opens a new and challenging chapter in my public life."
The previous speaker,independent MP,retired at the November 25 election.
,giving it a two-seat majority,with the LNP on 39,and one independent,three Katter's Australian Party MPs,one One Nation MP and one Greens MP.
After an election,the Legislative Assembly chooses a new Speaker via a ballot - if Labor has a majority,their pick will succeed.
The Speaker presides over the Parliament,and if a vote is tied,the Speaker has the casting vote.
