Wentworth MP Dave Sharma looks set to keep his billboard on the side of the Edgecliff Centre as he battles to retain his seat for the Liberals.
The Wentworth MP’s comments were unearthed as the Coalition faces a fresh internal struggle over climate action, pulling the topic back into the spotlight.
“This is going to light a fuse in the loftiest suburbs of Sydney’s east,” said former Liberal MP Michael Yabsley who drew the media’s attention to the article.
While Allegra Spender would not say which party she would support in a hung parliament,Dave Sharma admitted he cannot control Liberal policy.
For too long political parties have seen election campaigns as akin to a contact sport. The mantra of “whatever it takes” to win has contributed to the emergence of these powerful independents, who loathe the daily slanging matches and abuse in parliament.
From canvas totes to organic cotton caps and doggy bandanas,Allegra Spender, the independent candidate for the federal seat of Wentworth, has an online shop bursting with political merchandise.
The Liberal MP had tweeted:“Finally they nail their colours to the mast! ‘Your’ ABC is running a candidate in Wentworth.”
A confident Allegra Spender used her campaign launch to tell Liberal MP Dave Sharma to “get out of our way”.
Both candidates are pledging action on electric vehicles as Allegra Spender prepares to relaunch her campaign on Thursday.
It’s proving to be the wedding of the year with the coming together of two Sydney society families – the O’Neils and Hays.
The Liberals’ bid to retain the formerly blue-ribbon seat of Wentworth has hit a snag, with the local council requesting the removal of Dave Sharma’s billboard in Edgecliff.
