Hezbollah called on its supporters to attend the funeral in large numbers in what appears to be a move to show that it remains powerful,while Israeli warplanes flew overhead.
The US president responded by giving the Israeli prime minister a photo of the two men from the latter’s US visit,inscribed:“To Bibi,a great leader.”
Hezbollah,relations with Israel,and a five-year economic crisis are just some of the problems for the country which was heavily targeted by Israel’s bombing last year.
The Israeli ambassador has vowed to better communicate his nation’s perspective on being at war. This would help raise awareness and increase sympathy to Israel’s cause.
Israel has unleashed its largest wave of airstrikes across Lebanon since agreeing to a ceasefire with Hezbollah last week,killing at least 11 people overnight.
The surge in fighting has raised the prospect of another violent front reopening in the Middle East.
It also said it fired on people trying to return to certain areas in southern Lebanon because they were violating the truce.
The Lebanon ceasefire agreement requires Israeli troops to withdraw from south Lebanon and Lebanon’s army to deploy in the region,officials say.
Despite the Lebanon ceasefire,the idea of permanent peace seems optimistic,and there is still no end to the war in Gaza,where the situation may become more deadly.
Achieving a ceasefire is a good thing. But the reality is that this is simply likely to be another pause in the ongoing conflicts in the region.
