The descendants of Fletcher Christian and other Bounty mutineers are pleading with the federal government to save one of their few original archives.
Historians are mystified why the government seems to treat Australia’s military history with reverence at the War Memorial but indifference in the National Archives.
For now though,David Fricker is battling to hold on to those memories so the Archives’ records can be accessed by historians and interested Australians for years to come.
The National Archives holds millions of records. But without more financial support,the stories of Australia will dissolve into sad pieces of art or dust.
