Social Seen:Georgia Fowler leads the pack at the Australian Fashion Laureates

Every nose job from the northern beaches to the eastern suburbs was on the guest list of the 2018Australian Fashion Laureate Awards at theState Theatre on Tuesday night.

Star guestGeorgia Fowler told Social Seen she was more nervous about hosting the proceedings alongside comedianAsh Williams than she was walking in theVictoria's Secret Fashion Show two weeks ago – the most talked about runway in the world.

"Hosting,I've got to talk,so that's quite scary and I have never done this before,so ya,I am a bit nervous,"she laughed.

But she said she felt assured by the support of her sisterKate Fowler,ex-partner of Merivale millionaireJustin Hemmes, and their mother,Kim Fowler, who were in attendance.

While Fowler, one of the world's most in-demand models, was more than happy to stop for chats,Jasmine Yarbrough,soon-to-be second wife ofToday'sKarl Stefanovic, pulled a Beyonce and refused to talk to any media.

Yarbrough,a shoe designer, was spotted mingling at the pre-champagne reception with fellow professional plus-oneDavid Panton, partner of former deputy leader of the Liberal party,Julie Bishop, who did not attend.

Former editor ofHarper's BazaarKellie Hush was one of the judges who helped sendVogue Australia editor-in-chief Edwina McCann home with the top gong of the night – theAustralian Fashion Laureate Lifetime Achievement Award.

But Hush,in Stella McCartney, swore the win didn't feel like a bitter pill she had to swallow.

"When I was the editor ofBazaar and she ofVogue, that was a fierce competition, but I think the amazing thing about our relationship is that we have total respect for one another,"Hush said.

Hush shocked the fashion industry in August when she departed the glossy to start a"fast fashion brand".

She was still keeping schtum on details (Hush by name, hush by nature),but said it would be marketed towards"savvy fashion buyers, young women who can't afford luxury"and will launch in March next year.

Meanwhile,if there was a trophy for the funniest moment of the night (and that includes the"comedic"attempts ofAsh Williams) it would be a toss up betweenRomance Was Born designersLuke Sales andAnna Plunkett's speech and legendary Australian photographer Russell James' choice of footwear at the plush event:thongs (you can take the man out of Australia, but ...).

Sales and Plunkett, deserved winners of theBest Australian Womenswear Award, took to the stage in an awkward huddle, with Plunkett whispering nervously in Sales'ear.

"What Anna wants me to tell you all is that I used to be an usher here at the State Theatre,so if you need to to know where the exits are ..."he said,to which everyone burst out laughing.

Before leaving the stage,Sales turned to Plunkett, his co-designer for the past 12 years, and said,"Thank you Anna, you have made my life an enjoyable one."

The guest list was one of the best at a Sydney event in recent times, and seemed all the more enjoyable for the lack of selfie-loving influencers present.
