Battambang

Located on the sleepy eastern side of town,Battambang offers something a little different from the bustling eateries on the well-worn Cabramatta food trail:authentic Cambodian fare (mild in terms of chilli-spiciness and so relatively accessible). There's nothing glamorous about the red plastic seats and walls that could do with a fresh lick of paint,but the food makes up for it. Top choice is Phnom Penh noodle soup - a mean rendition of the clear soup with rice noodles,minced pork and seafood. Or try beef sour soup with morning glory,lemongrass and offal,or the lemongrass beef stir-fry:two uniquely Cambodian dishes.
