The TV Week Logies Awards are set to leave Melbourne after 30 years.

Butearlier this week,Victorian tourism and major events minister John Eren withdrew the government support for the event leaving organisers hunting for a new home.

New South Wales tourism minister Adam Marshall had previously expressed interest in taking the TV industry on a regional tour by hosting the awards in places like Dubbo or Albury.

But those calls appear to have fallen on deaf ears after Queensland tourism minister Kate Jones announced on Monday the Sunshine State wanted to throw its hat in the ring.

The selection of the Gold Coast as the host city for the event comes after Cr Tate saidhe embraced Australia's "tacky industry" coming to his "tacky city".

Cr Tate did not respond immediately to requests for comment.
