Mother Lisa Easton said the first she knew of the incident was when she received the call from the childcare worker who had left her child on the bus.

"She said,'I left your daughter on the bus for a very long time'. My whole world just stopped for that split second,I thought my daughter was deceased,"Ms Easton toldNine News.

The young girl,Violet, was reportedly taken to hospital by her mother where she was treated for dehydration.

"I cannot fathom what my daughter went through for an hour and five minutes,it’s absolutely heartbreaking,"Ms Easton toldNine News.

"I do want to see her (the childcare worker) charged, even if it is a mistake and human error, she needs to realise there are consequences for that."

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection Unit were investigating the incident.

Violet will not be returning to childcare, according to her mother.
