His childhood was spent pinging across the border,for his birth and then to live in his teenage years and then to get better golf. There was no wall to scale,just opportunity.
But he's very Mexican,very much Latin America's next great golfing hope.
"Being from a border town a lot of people ask me,'do you really feel Mexican?'Anyone that knows me knows how Mexican I am,"said Ancer,a runaway winner of the Australian Open at The Lakes on Sunday."That's where I grew up playing the game.
"I feel like Mexican golf is growing quite a bit lately. Hopefully playing well and winning this event will touch more kids in Mexico and they'll start playing the game. Slowly but surely Mexican golf – and Latin American golf – is growing."
