Football Federation Australia officials offered coaches a"no result"which would have seen the teams share the points but Canberra boss Heather Garriock was quick to shut that down.
Anything other than a win would have ended Canberra's slim finals hopes. The match will be replayed in the next two weeks before the regular season ends, but it won't be on Friday.
Garriock conceded her team was playing"terribly"in the opening exchanges and admits the postponement was a blessing in disguise.
"I think the player's played terrible in the first 15 minutes and it was kind of a blessing we got to regroup and chat about it. They were pumped to go back out,"Garriock said.
"FFA spoke about having a no result but both of us want the game played so we need to find a midweek fixture that will suit both of us.
"It's going to fit in with both our schedules,we have a bye in the last round but they're in Perth so that doesn't suit. It's up to FFA,they're going to give us options and try and accommodate both teams.
"We play in a competition of 12 games so it's important that we play all of them. It was 100 per cent the right decision though, the player's welfare is the most important thing."
