Burwood Council has more than 1000 people per hectare of public open space, followed by the Inner West Council and City of Canada Bay,both with more than 700 people per hectare.
Although the City of Sydney,Waverley Council in the eastern suburbs and North Sydney Council each have a higher population density than the Inner West, these council areas still maintain a higher ratio of public open space.
Waverley has the next lowest amount of public open space,at 624 people per hectare of public open space. Bondi,Tamarama and Bronte beaches provide compensation, while Centennial Park falls just outside its boundaries on its western side.
North Sydney Council and the City of Sydney both have more than 500 people per hectare of public open space, but many comparable inner-metropolitan areas have a far higher ratio of green space per resident.
Randwick, which contains Centennial Park, several golf courses on crown land as well as beaches such as Coogee and Maroubra,is well served with only 190 residents per hectare of public open space.
On the north shore,Willoughby Council has 216 residents per hectare of open space, while Mosman,Lane Cove and Hunters Hill are well below 200.
