The blazes were the only two of the state's 77 fires at"watch and act"level on Thursday afternoon. Thirty fires around the state remain out of control.
"[The Araluen Road fire] is continuing to spread into remote terrain – while we're doing what we can to hold it in size using helicopters and crews,it's likely to continue to grow,"said Rural Fire Service spokesman Ben Shepherd.
"There are a number of containment options on the northern side of that fire, but it's a possibility that it could join with the Currowan fire."
While containment efforts continue near residential areas affected by the Currowan fire, the area south of King's Highway and north of the Araluen Road fire is fairly remote."We're going to have to contend with that for days if not weeks,"Mr Shepherd said.
The Currowan fire has spread on a number of fronts and is likely to continue as we see drought conditions continue to grip the state.
"We don't really expect any significant rainfall over the coming days,"said Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Jiwon Park.
