An LNP government would also introduce new laws to make coercive control a crime, shadow attorney-general David Janetzki said.
Coercive control is a pattern of oppression and can include emotional, sexual and financial abuse.
Mr Janetzki said it would be challenging to prove in court, but was possible with similar legislation already in place in the UK.
The state's opposition has also promised to give police the power to issue domestic violence protection orders on the spot, which at present can only be imposed by a judge.
"Our police and courts are overwhelmed under the current system, which isn’t working to protect families or hold perpetrators accountable,"Mr Janetzki said.
Red Rose Foundation chief executive Betty Taylor said domestic violence prevention advocates had been lobbying for changes for"some time".
"We need to take this seriously,we need to know that the tragedy of last week isn't forgotten,"Ms Taylor said.
