Swimming Australia chairman John Bertrand said once Sun Yang had exhausted his right of appeal,SAL would lobby the sport’s world governing body to revisit this decision and scrub Sun Yang from the Gwangju records.
"On the basis the appeal is dismissed we will certainly be making representations with FINA to reconsider the issue of Mack’s medal from the world championships,"Bertrand toldThe Age.
"If his appeal is dismissed,we will certainly be championing this issue with FINA."
Bertrand’s comments follow those of FINA vice-president Matt Dunn which raised the possibility of FINA reviewing the world titles won by Sun Yang in last year's 400m and 200m freestyle events."I think the option will be open,’’ said Dunn,a three-time Australian Olympic swimmer.
Australia’s push for restorative justice for Horton, who provoked the ire of the Chinese and FINA by refusing to share a medal podium with Sun Yang after he finished second to his bitter rival in the 400m,could potentially be joined by other swimming nations.

In the 200m final,Japan’s Katsuhiro Matsumoto finished second to Sun Yang, while Martin Malyutin from Russia and Britain’s Duncan Scott tied for third and Italy’s Filippo Megli finished fifth.
