P&O Cruises Australia,Carnival Cruise Line,Holland America Line and Seabourn have suspended cruises for 30 days,while Cunard has suspended its North American cruises. All operate under the Carnival Australia umbrella,along with Princess.
Princess Cruises,P&O Cruises Australia and Carnival Cruise Line have home ports in Australia,while others based here seasonally or visit on world voyages.
P&O Cruises Australia president Sture Myrmell said the cruise line was confident it could maintain a healthy onboard environment but had decided to pause operations to support governments in their efforts to contain the pandemic.
He noted the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade had also advised Australians to reconsider their need to travel anywhere in the world.
A number of international cruise companies have also paused operations,including Windstar,Disney and Viking. Royal Caribbean has suspended all US cruises.
