On Wednesday, the AFL informed the tenant clubs they will receive payments for each home game, including the games played at the venue in round one without crowds when Essendon, the Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne were the home teams.

Under the MCG deal, clubs will receive between $150,000 - $180,000 per home game played and although the exact financial implications for Marvel Stadium tenants were still being finalised with each club's arrangements different, the figure was expected to be in the same range, with no clubs disadvantaged.

In the next four rounds,St Kilda and the Bulldogs have two home games while Carlton and North Melbourne have one each, while Hawthorn - an MCG tenant - has been drawn to be the home team at Marvel Stadium against the Kangaroos in round four.

The Hawks, who still hope to play games in Tasmania in 2020,will receive payments for their home games at the MCG but are uncertain as to what home games at Marvel Stadium might mean for them.

Each tenant club is expected to eventually play eight or nine home games depending on the fixture in the 17-game season.

Club revenues have been virtually wiped out during the coronavirus shutdown, however, they have maintained significant membership support, with very few members seeking complete refunds.

The stadium revenue will provide welcome relief for clubs that are under a tight financial rein as the AFL economy is resized in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
