But the 28-year-old could soon have some fierce competition on his hands, with reports over the weekend in England suggesting the Seagulls have joined Aston Villa in the race to sign Martinez, who is seeking a new club and the promise of increased playing time.
This off-season,Socceroos coach Graham Arnold has already seen key midfielder Aaron Mooy leave Brighton for a lucrative deal in China and Tom Rogic flirt with a move to Qatar after falling down the pecking order at Celtic.
Now Ryan,Australia's clear first-choice custodian,is at risk of being relegated to back-up status at Brighton if their pursuit of Martinez comes off - although according toThe Athletic, the club has denied any formal offer has been lodged.
Ryan is unconcerned about his future, saying the first he learned of the reports was on Saturday upon arriving at training, where some of his Brighton teammates joked about the Martinez links.
"I hadn't even seen any of it - I don't know what I was doing last night,I was watching a bit of the golf and went to bed. I woke up and still hadn't looked at my phone, really,"Ryan told theHerald.
"Competition is always going to bring out the best for everyone, but I have no idea what the situation is with all that. All I know is I'm a player for Brighton and I'm preparing to try and have the best season I can personally to help contribute to the club.
"If it was to happen,I back myself to get on with it and do all I can to maintain my place[in the team]. But right now, that particular circumstance isn't a reality. There's a lot of speculation so I'm not getting caught up in any of that."
