The trial began on Thursday,March 18,and was scheduled to go into the middle of next week, but the jury concerns andCOVID-19 community case in Brisbane could derail those plans.
Justice Ann Lyons said the concerns were sparked while Anthony Draper, the third person accused in the case who pleaded guilty earlier this year, gave evidence against the Baggaleys earlier this week.
“During the evidence of Mr Draper there was a concern that there was a group of young men in the gallery who were staring at the jury for extended periods and that at least some of[the jury] felt that intensity of their stares,” Justice Lyons said in court on Friday.
“Secondly, one of the jurors felt they were followed on Wednesday evening when they were walking to the[Roma Street] train station.

“Despite changing course, that juror felt that that one of those persons was undertaking the same course that they were and that they believed they were being followed.
“As I understand it,those concerns were shared among the jury.
