Assistant Commissioner Brian Codd confirmed there was a domestic violence incident on March 29,and two other instances involving Ms Wilkinson attending police stations.
Ms Wilkinson’s burnt body was found in her Arundel home on Tuesday morning, with her three children believed to be inside at the time.
Mr Johnston, her estranged husband, was charged with her murder and breach of bail conditions.
When asked why Mr Johnston did not have to face a bail hearing,Mr Codd said while the nature of the charges were very serious, the circumstances and conditions needed to be considered.
“The determination of serious offences is not just the parameters in which bail is determined,” he said.
“There are conditions, there are circumstances, where you can see ... in reality very serious allegations may not necessarily articulate into the necessity for somebody’s liberty to be limited and for them to be kept under bail.
