Warne was farewelled from Koh Samui, which he had visited four times, with a traditional Buddhist ceremony arranged by Australian expats on the island at Wat Arom Sawang temple.
The blessing, conducted by Khun Prasit, head monk at the temple, was attended by Australian embassy staff and other Australians.
“There were enough there for a cricket team,” said one attendee, who asked not to be named. “We just did what any Australian would do for such a legend.”

Police announced on Monday that a post-mortem examination had shown Warnedied of natural causes on Friday, suffering a heart attack in a room at the Samujana Villas resort on Koh Samui.
Songyot Chayaninporamet, the deputy director of Samui Hospital, told reporters on the island Warne died of a “congenital disease”.
Ratchaporn Poolsawadee, president of the Tourism Association of Koh Samui, also addressed a press conference on the island.
“On behalf of tourism,I think Samui is still a safe place for everyone to travel and at least he gets to rest in a place he loved here,” he said.
“I hope that he will go back to his home,to the family,to everyone, and receive his honour from all the cricket fans and everyone around the world.”
Meanwhile,a Thai masseuse told British newspaperThe Sun how she knocked on the door of Warne’s room in the villa he and his friends were staying at on Koh Samui, saying she was scheduled to give him a foot massage at 5pm on Friday. His friends found him unresponsive 15 minutes later.
“I think Shane was sleeping in his room the whole time because I didn’t see him while I was giving a nail treatment to his friend,” she told the newspaper.
“I was supposed to go to see Shane after that, but when the maid knocked on his door there was no reply. There was no sound in the room, and they said he was sleeping,so I left.
“When I got home I was told he had died,so I was really sad. I think that he had been dead while I was in the villa.”
Football commentator Eddie McGuire on Tuesday revealed details about plans for Warne’s funeral.
“I had the privilege of being with the family yesterday. They are just remarkable people. They are trying to organise everything at the moment. They know they have a public duty if you like. You saw the public statements put out byeach of the kids,mother,father,ex-wife. It is an enormous burden for them and they still haven’t had time to contemplate what’s going on,” McGuire told Nine’sToday show.

“Hopefully today the body arrives as expected. That’s the first step out of the way and the family is able to start mourning, starting to plan for the private funeral and then for the memorial service, which hopefully will be at the MCG later this year.
“He was a normal bloke who did extraordinary things. He is a guy who could have had the greatest chefs in the world;his last meal was a Vegemite sandwich. If anything could sum up Warnie:he’s watching cricket, having a Vegemite sandwich and probably having a dart.
“He was tabloid fodder because he lined himself up a fair bit for it as well. He never complained. He’d be like:‘Fair enough,I’ve been nicked again.’ ”
