D’Ath said they are working with the ship’s owners,Princess Cruises,to offer support and assistance,but there was no suggestion people would be stopped from getting on or off the ship,or that it would be prevented from leaving as scheduled.
“There were protocols put in place as to what would occur if there was an outbreak and we are seeing an outbreak,” she said.
“Some of those passengers are being removed,they have chosen to isolate either home or in other accommodation and we’ve supported them in doing that.“
Princess Cruises said they were doing everything possible to ensure the safety of guests and crew in the face of the outbreak.
“We are adhering to comprehensive protocols that were agreed in conjunction with federal and state authorities and we are confident that they are working effectively,” a spokesman said in a statement.
“Should any crew member test positive,they go into isolation on board and have no contact with guests.”
“As guests look forward to their cruise holidays,we want them to be confident in knowing that everything possible is being done to ensure they do so in an environment that is as safe as it can be.”
