“It was incredible,” said Haynes,a term she used repeatedly to describe the ultimate triumph during the inaugural women’s competition at the Commonwealth Games.
“It was an experience that we never anticipated that we would have. So to be able to be one of the teams involved in the Commonwealth Games,a small team involved in a much larger overall team was really special.
“And to be able to mix with the other athletes and support them along the way as well. It was just an incredible experience.
“To be able to mark that off and be holding all of the major trophies,it’s pretty special. I think,in time, this group will look back and realise just how incredible the run has been for our team.”

The Australian women’s side can be counted as one of this country’s greatest sporting teams. They also hold the Twenty20 and 50-over World Cups, and the Ashes.
However, there is little time to reflect for Haynes, with her gold medal tucked away in storage as she represents the Fire in the UK’s trimmed-down version of the Women’s Big Bash.
