It was revealed on Thursday at an independent inquiry into police responses to domestic and family violence that two senior Queensland officers had both made lewd comments at separate conferences.
One of those officers,Deputy Commissioner Paul Taylor, resigned on Friday after it was revealed he referred to one of his colleagues as a “vagina whisperer”. Commissioner Katarina Carroll told the inquiry the colleague was an obstetrician.
The Queensland Police Service issued a statement late on Saturday confirming Rohweder had stepped away from active duty,at least temporarily.
“The second senior officer whose comments at a QPS conference were the subject of evidence at the commission of inquiry on Thursday is now on leave,” a QPS spokesperson said in a written statement.
“The commissioner has sought legal advice about her options in relation to this officer, and that advice is pending.”
Rohweder allegedly shouted out at a senior police conference “Did she close her legs on you?” when the male MC jokingly told delegates a minor head cut was the result of a “rough promotional process”,the inquiry was told.
