But the Toowong location faced community opposition and flooded inFebruary last year.
In August 2022,Education Minister Grace Grace flagged it would be reconsidered.
On Wednesday,the state government announced “unprecedented flooding and further community consultation” meant the site was no longer suitable.
“Stabilising enrolments mean there is currently capacity for around 600 extra students in the existing local state schools,” the statement read.
“A new state school is therefore not required as soon as anticipated.”
The original pre-COVID 2019 business case would be reviewed to determine when and where a new primary school should be built.
Until then,schools at Indooroopilly,Ironside and Toowong would receive new and upgraded facilities,including additional student capacity.
