Now that Moses has committed his future to the Eels, the club can focus on turning around a disappointing start to the season on the back of three straight losses.

Moses’ future was again in the headlines this week when rumours began to swirl about a potential play from the Sydney Roosters for his services.

The Roosters slammed suggestions they were making a secret bid for Moses as a replacement for Luke Keary, with coach Trent Robinson even approaching the halves at his club to assure them that they weren’t in any danger.

After the Bulldogs pulled out of the race for his services, the Tigers were the only other team in the hunt for Moses’ signature. The Tigers indicated that they would be willing to pay up to $1.4m over four years and were giving consideration to making it five years.

In a sign of how little chance the Tigers felt of getting Moses, the board was never asked to formally approve an offer to the halfback.

Under the club’s recruitment and retention policy,a contract of that magnitude would need to be signed off and approved by the board. It never reached that point.
