Brisbane 2032 spokeswoman Rebecca Masci said it would be just the start of the rings’ infiltration into the city. As time went on,she said, there would be more and more visual cues that this was an Olympic city.

“With the Olympic rings and Paralympic Agitos making their official debut in Queensland on nine years to go,you’ll start to see them show up in more locations as we hold more events and more activities over the course of the years to come,” she said.

Howard Smith Wharves chief executive Luke Fraser said there would be plenty of good vantage points – if you could see the Story Bridge,he said, you would be able to see the drones.

“I’d recommend people come down early and I’d say come down the afternoon,do what you’d normally do,come to your favourite spot, grab a meal, have something to eat, have a drink, find that spot and enjoy the night,” he said.

The FIFA Fan Festival at South Bank will operate from July 20 to August 20 and feature live games, along with local artists’ performances.

The Olympic and Paralympic drone show will start about 7pm on Saturday,July 22.
