The city, which will be five times the size of Barangaroo,is under construction with the first buildings hoped to be ready in time for the airport and metro opening in 2026.
It is part of the three-cities strategy for Sydney, which would see Bradfield,Parramatta and the Sydney CBD become three separate hubs for housing and jobs, meaning those living in Sydney’s west aren’t forced into long commutes to work.
The NSW government is hoping major national and international businesses will be attracted to the precinct with the links to transport and the industrial and office space on offer. CSIRO has already committed to opening a facility.
“While the master plan says that it’s a 50-year time horizon for this complete city to come out of the ground,I think you’ll find that it happens a whole lot quicker than that based on the absolute demand for it,” planning minister Paul Scully said.

“There’s going to be construction that’s going on here for a long time – the entire aerotropolis is more than 11,000 hectares. That’s going to take a while to grow.”
The new city will fall completely within the Liverpool Council area, and mayor Ned Mannoun hopes it will bring plenty of jobs and amenities to existing residents.
